چکیده

This study was conducted to determine the response of Salvia tomentosa Mill. and officinalis L. different salinity levels. The salvia plants were grown in 8 L pots filled with continuously aerated nutrient solution under salt levels 1 (control), 2, 3, 4, 5 6 dS m-1 fully automated climate chambers. fresh dry weight shoot root, stem length, leaf area, SPAD, CO2 fixation, root diameter, volume, Na+, K+, Ca++ Cl- content, amount essential oil determined. increasing level decreased significantly plant growth both species. However, highly significant differences found between two species terms biomass. Generally, S. showed better performance compared officinalis. Na+ content leaves increased concentration increase higher tomentosa. K+ due concentration, while varied depending on dose. that contents sage could be moderate application. stress results can cultivated low medium saline soils, second class waters used for irrigation sages yield by using stress.

Relationship Between Ion Accumulation and Plant Biomass of Alfalfa Under Salt Stress

Abstract Salinity is one of the major abiotic challenges influencing plant productivity worldwide. To examine the response of two alfalfa cultivars (Bami and Hamedani) to six levels of water salinity (0, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125 mM L-1 NaCl), a glasshouse experiment was conducted at the College of Agriculture, Shiraz University, Shiraz, Iran in 2008. The results showed that in Bami (which appeared...

Acetylcholinesterase inhibitory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial activities of Salvia tomentosa Mill. essential oil

Chemical composition and bioactivity of essential oil from Salvia tomentosa Mill. natively grown in Bulgaria were investigated. GC-MS analysis identified 60 compounds which represented 98% of the oil constituents. The prevalent constituents were monoterpenes with eight dominant compounds being identified: borneol (10.3%), β-pinene (9%), camphor (7.9%), α-pinene (6%), camphene (4%), 1.8-cineole ...

Evaluation of Basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) Essential Oil Content and Yield under Different Plant Densities and Nitrogen Levels

A study was conducted to investigate the effect of different planting densities and nitrogen doses on essential oil content and yield in herb and leaves of basil (Ocimum basilicum L.). The research was conducted during 2007 and 2008 using split-plot randomized complete block design with four replications. The experiment consisted of four plant densities (30×20, 40×20 and 50×20 cm) as the main p...
